The J-Talk Podcast - Olympics & J2

J1 took the weekend off, but as you'll hear on this new episode there was still a lot to talk about in Japanese football this week, and Jon Steele from J2 Kanto Bites made a triumphant return to the J-Talk guest hotseat to run through it all with me.

This Podcast runs a tick over 45 minutes. Part 1:
We began with the friendlies played in the past week by the mens and womens national teams ahead of the Olympic football tournament, and to show Jon I wasn't seeing things on Saturday night, here's the video of Marco Fabian playing keepy-uppy (thanks to Clement Delestrade for pointing it out to me):

We covered the Olympics up to around 14 minutes in, then briefly discussed the Team as One game played in Kashima on Saturday night, featuring legendary Italian fantasista Alessandro Del Piero. That was it for Part 1, which ended at the 19:41 mark.

Part 2:
Next up was Jon's bread and butter, J2, and we spent the best part of 20 minutes discussing the results from Matchday 25, which saw another change at the top; the chances of teams outside the playoff places forcing their way in; and the battle at the bottom, where the threat of relegation to the J.F.L has made this the most cut-throat J2 season ever. And speaking of the J.F.L., thats where we finished, as Jon had been to the Yokogawa v Hoyo Oita game on Sunday.
